Site Information

Wilton 3 is one of a group of four quarries sited close to Egerton and is one of the most popular in the area; it is owed by a Gun Club who are happy for climbers to use it, however not on a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday when to shooting taking preference – so don’t worry we won’t take you there then!

The rock is a gritstone and is generally sound, and due to its dual use, there is little vegetation in the centre of the quarry resulting in a low midge population which is quite unusual for a climbing site in an old quarry. There are 81 routes in the quarry at a variety of grades and can therefore offer something for most climbers;

Site Location & Parking

The quarry is around 17 miles from West View. It is best reached from Preston by leaving the M65 at Junction 3, then following the A675 (Belmont Road) for approximately 8 miles to the junction with Scout Road. Follow Scout Road for approximately ½ mile to the site and park in the small car park on the right.
