Witches Quarry

This private limestone quarry lies east of Downham and just north of Pendle Hill.(The owner lives in the farm across the road from the quarry). Parking is strictly limited to 10 cars, so if there are 10 cars there when you arrive you must not parkin the quarry. (There is parking in the ample lay-by at the foot of the lane leadingup to the crag which is only a 5 minute walk away).From Downham (when coming from Chatburn) take the road which bears left immediately after the Asheton Arms and follow this for about 2 miles. At the top of a steep hill the quarry can be seen on the right a few yards from the road.
